STUDIO POLICIES AND PROCEEDURES
*Please note, for returning students, these policies and procedures
have always been in place, they are not new, however we have included
them more clearly on the registration form in order to ensure the best
possible communication transparency.
Lessons:
- Lessons at ADW MUSIC are ongoing throughout the year.
Once registered, we require a minimum of ONE MONTH (calendar)
WRITTEN notice to cancel (quit) lessons. There is a form below
to fill if/when that time comes around for you. Until this written
notice is given, it is understood that you are continuing with lessons,
and you will be charged accordingly whether or not attending.
Non-attendance to lessons does not constitute notice.
- Once you are registered, you are guaranteed that specific day and time.
ADW MUSIC reserves the right to use substitute teachers, and
or/re-book individual lessons where necessary. In very rare
circumstances it may be necessary for ADW MUSIC to move a student
to a different time and day. In all instances students will be notified as
soon as possible in the event of a substitution or re-arrangement of lessons.
- We run a minimum of 2 in house recitals per year (usually 3), performance
is an important part of music lessons, and experience has proven that
students of all ages and abilities make immense gains from recitals;
therefore we encourage all students to participate in all of our in-house
recitals. Please note there are NO lessons during recital weeks.
- Students are responsible for providing their own instrument for lessons
(with the exception of piano).
- Students are responsible for purchasing music and lesson books.
Your teacher and/or ADW MUSIC personnel will guide you towards
appropriate materials.
- Students must provide a scribbler for teacher feedback. Teachers will
provide written feedback at each lesson in these scribblers.
These scribblers will also be used for teaching purposes.
It is very important that the student bring their scribbler to lessons weekly.
- Missed lessons can be rescheduled if agreed upon by student/teacher/studio.
ADW MUSIC and its teachers are not obligated to ‘make up' (reschedule)
if the student provides less than 1 week notice.
- It is possible to take small breaks from lessons and hold your place:
the hold fee is an administrative fee which enables the student to take
a hiatus and maintain their lesson day/time/teacher.
The hold fee is equivalent to ½ month lesson fee for each hiatus month
Fees:
- All lesson fees are a flat rate, and that they are guaranteeing a
specific time each week, as well as for the tuition itself. Lesson fees
also include in house performance opportunities (recitals).
- Lesson fees are to be paid BEFORE normal closing by the first of
any given calendar month. If the first of the month falls on a Sunday
or Bank Holiday, lesson fees must be received BEFORE the first of the
month (i.e. by closing the last operational day).
- Lesson fees can be paid by Cash, Interac Debit, Visa, MasterCard,
or by Cheque.
- ADW MUSIC is happy to hold on file post-dated cheques if students/parents
find this method more convenient.
- Any payments received after closing on the first of the month
(or earlier as stated above) will be subject to a $25 late fee.
- Returned cheques will be subject to a $50 NSF fee
